The Washburn University Student Health Center will be administering the H1N1 live nasal vaccine and the inactive H1N1 shot free with a Washburn ID and completed consent form. In a campus announcement, the center emphasizes these will only be administered to people who meet the criteria which includes:
-pregnant women
-anyone 18 years and older from previous clinics (Nursing, Allied Health, Emergency Personnel, Education Department, Social Workers)
-anyone who cares for or lives with a child under six months old
-anyone from 18 through 24 years of age with certain chronic medical conditions or a weakened immune systemChronic medical conditions that confer a higher risk for influenza-related complications include:
-chronic pulmonary (including asthma)
-cardiovascular (except hypertension)
-renal, hepatic, cognitive, neurologic/neuromuscular, hematologic, or metabolic disorders (including diabetes mellitus)
– immunosuppression (including immunosuppression caused by medications or by human immunodeficiency virus)

The H1N1 clinic hours are Nov. 23-25, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
