Golf finishes 14th at Golfweek Invitational

The Washburn Ichabod golf team wrapped up their first tournament of the spring at the Golfweek Spring Invitational with a 14th place finish. The event featured 16 nationally-ranked teams in the latest golfstat rankings. Washburn entered the invitational ranked 49th in NCAA Division II golf.

The Ichabods finished the 54-hole event with a 67-over 931 after shooting rounds of 315, 307 and 309. The winning team was Nova Southeastern who finished 14-over par with a three-day total of 878.

Individually, the Ichabods were led by Dustin Yeager who finished in a tie for 34th with a 12-over par 228. He had rounds of 79, 72 and 77. Nate Sargent recorded the low round of the day for the Ichabods with a 3-over 75 finishing 14-over 230 with scores of 76, 79 and yesterday’s 75. He finished in a tie for 42nd overall.

Brian Walker finished in a tie for 64th with a three-day total of 236 for a 20-over par score with rounds of 82, 78 and 76. Matt Lazzo finished in 82nd with scores of 79, 78 and 85 for a 26-over 242. Riley Piles wrapped up the scoring for the Ichabods with a 33-over 249 tying for 87th with rounds of 81, 87 and 81 in today’s round.

The Ichabods will be back in action March 8-9 at the Winstar Invitational in Thackerville, Okla., at the Winstar Resort and Casino.
