Washburn University will host an array of big-name sports figures April 28 at the Washburn Coaches vs. Cancer Banquet in the Washburn Room of the Memorial Union.

Guests will include ESPN analyst Dick Vitale, University of Kansas basketball coaches Bill Self and Bonnie Henrickson, Kansas State University basketball coaches Frank Martin and Deb Patterson, Kansas State University athletic director John Currie, Washburn basketball coaches Bob Chipman and Ron McHenry, 15-year NFL center Casey Wiegmann and “Survivor: Guatemala” winner Danni Boatwright.

“We’re excited to have Coach Self, Coach Martin and Mr. Vitale join an already exceptional group of individuals who recognize a need and who have come together to fight it with the students of Washburn University,” said Garrett Love, WSGA president.

A limited number of tickets to the banquet, which goes from 5-6:45 p.m., will be on sale to the general public for a $100 package deal. The package includes premium seating to the Washburn Lecture Series event at 7 p.m. in Lee Arena featuring Dick Vitale. The title of the lecture is “How to Win at the Game of Life,” and Washburn students can purchase up to two tickets per person for $1. Staff and faculty tickets go for $5 and general public tickets are $10.

Tickets to the banquet and lecture can be purchased by calling the Student Activities and Greek Life office at 785-670-1723. Proceeds for both will go to Coaches vs. Cancer.
