Spring drills wrap up with scrimmage

The Washburn Ichabods football team wrapped up spring drills on Friday with an intrasquad scrimmage.

Washburn welcomes 18 new players to the team this year after an 8-3 season last year ended without a bowl or playoff berth.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Ichabods look to fill holes on the defensive line and linebacker positions, as they have to replace linebackers Michael Krajicek and All-American Zach Watkins, who was the 2009 MIAA Defensive Player of the Year. However, the Ichabods return one of the top offenses in the nation from last year. Though the Bods have to replace receivers Drameagon Powers and Brad Cole, Washburn returns senior Joe Hastings from a knee injury, as well as Brody Schuler, Lloyd Bias, Travis Mosby and Marcus Mau at wide receiver and will employ former quarterback Jake Iverson as a full-time receiver. Iverson played sparingly at receiver in 2009.
