There are currently 13,239 Westar Energy customers without service in northeast Kansas.
The outages were caused by high speed winds during a severe storm Sunday night and into Monday morning. The highest number of outages were in Sedgwick County, which serves 220,826 customers, according to the company’s website. Sedgwick had 3,035 customers without service as of 12:24 Monday morning. Shawnee County, which has 81,508 Westar Energy customers, had 2,815 without power, while Riley County had 2,888 customers without power.
