Alva to present on controversial repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”

Eric Alva, an Iraq War veteran and gay rights activist, will talk about the military’s repeal of the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell'” policy at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, in the Washburn Room, Memorial Union.

Alva will tell what it meant to stand next to President Barack Obama as he signed the law.

By using his own experiences as an example, he talks about difficulties faced by gays and lesbians serving in the military, and he urges audiences to support the LGBT community members who serve our country.

Washburn University Campus Activities Board is sponsoring the free lecture. Everyone is welcome.
