Ludo’s Pizzeria opened Jan. of 2011, and is owned by Washburn Law Alumnus Jerry Shelor.

Their motto is “In the sauce and in the toss!” translates into their commitment to the local community.

Their tomatoes come from Meier’s Market in North Topeka, from a greenhouse operated by the Topeka Youth Project.

Their sauce is homemade with fresh tomatoes, garlic, oregano and basil. Josh and Erin Blakemore spearhead day -to-day operations as business managers of Ludo’s.

According to the Blakemores, Ludo’s is different from other pizza places because of the close-knit family-friendly environment.

“Everyone puts their heart and soul into everything they do, and build customer relationships,” said Josh Blakemore. “We give you the best possible product you can get.”

In addition to pizza, Ludo’s offers calzones, breadsticks, cheesesticks, pastas, salads, hot sub sandwiches and desserts. In particular canolis, are Erin Blakemore’s special recipe of ricotta cheese, heavy whipping cream, sugar and vanilla wrapped up in a crispy cinnamon shell.

Ludo’s is also kid friendly, and offers a menu for children ages 10 and under.

Pizzas, Calzones, and Pastas can be custom-made to the customer’s liking. Their pizza has a succulent aroma and is very flavorful and delicious! They offer large slices that satisfy your appetite with every bite.

What Ludo’s likes about their downtown location is the support of other local-area businesses.

“Businesses pull together and create a community, and help support each other,” said Erin Blakemore. “downtown businesses help each other by putting up each other’s fliers in their establishments, and enjoy spreading the word.”

Ludo’s has two lunch specials at $5.99 for 2 slices and a drink, or 1 slice, side salad, and a drink. There is also a Family Special for $18.99 for a large pizza, an order of breadsticks, and a 2-liter bottle of soda.
