Free Social Security Information Sessions at Washburn Tech

 

Washburn Tech invites the public to several free Social Security information sessions which will be held in the Washburn Tech Conference Center beginning August 23rd.  The Social Security Administration will be sharing information on a different topic each week. 

The first information session will cover retirement, including survivor, auxiliary, and spouses on Tuesday, August 23rd, from 4-6 p.m.  The second session will be about Social Security disability and Medicare, Tuesday, August 30th from 4-6 p.m.  This will be followed on Wednesday, September 7th from 4-6 p.m. with SSA – What every woman should know.  The fourth session “Representative Payees and Caregivers” will be held Wednesday, September 14th from 4-6 p.m.  The series will conclude on Wednesday, September 21st with an online tutorial “Filing for Retirement”.

Washburn Tech is a 2-year institution where students can obtain relevant technical skills, taught by highly skilled, knowledgeable instructors, which prepares them for the job market.  Approximately 90 percent of our graduates go either into jobs related to their training, into the military, or go on to further their education.     

After just one or two years of training, graduates of our programs have obtained employment earning up to $ 23.42 per hour.  Washburn Tech offers 24 technical programs, most of which are about 48 credits in length, in one of five divisions – Construction, Health Care, Transportation, Human Services, and Technology.  In addition, short-term continuing education and custom courses are also offered.
