VIDEO: Lady Blues go 11-1 after defeating Griffons

At Lee Arena last Saturday, a large crowd gathered to cheer on the Lady Blues as they took on the Missouri Western Griffons.  Washburn snatched sets one and two away from the Griffons winning 25-12 and 25-16.  After halftime Missouri Western came out on the court ready to play, leading 22-17.  The Blues were able to buckle down late in the third and used three of their thirteen blocks on the night to win 26-24.

Hughes continued her hot kill streak, totaling nine for the game.  Wittman led with eighteen assists and Gracie Peterson added thirteen.  Kelsey Lewis contributed twelve digs and Mollie Lacy obstructed six blocks.  The Lady Blues can attribute the win to a strong hitting percentage of .270 to the Griffons’ .034.

The win improves Washburn’s record to 4-0 in the MIAA and 11-1 overall.  The Lady Blues will look to continue their win streak as they return home for the 2011 Ramada Inn Lady Blues Fall Classic this weekend.
