VIDEO: Washburn shut out by Missouri Sourthern

The Washburn Lady Blues were blanked 2-0 by Missouri Southern in MIAA action Tuesday night in Yager Stadium. Washburn will travel to face Truman on Thursday in Kirksville.

Washburn (1-10-2, 1-3-1 MIAA) fell behind after the Lions’ Cortney Sanders scored her first goal of the season in the 11th minute on an assist from Corninne Tebbs off a corner kick. The goal was the only one of the first half.

In the second half, the Lions added another goal in the 75th minute when Megan Stueve scored her fourth goal of the season on a breakaway on an assist from Kelly White.

Missouri Southern outshot the Lady Blues 10-9 after the Lady Blues outshot the Lions 7-4 in the second half, but could not put any past the Lions’ Abby Risner.

Lauren Henry had three shots for the Lady Blues while Leah Talley recorded two.
