VIDEO: Washburn Lady Blues Post-Season Awards

Half and half Senior middle hitter Mollie Lacy sends the ball over the net to Emporia State University. The Lady Blues lost to the University of Central Missouri 3-0 before defeating ESU 3-1 over the weekend. WU next plays in the NCAA South Central Region Tournament starting on Thurs. against Arkansas Tech University.

Jessica Fey, Breanna Lewis and Molly Lacy each earned return spots on the American Volleyball Coaches Assocation all-South Central Region teams. Fey and Lewis were named to the first team and Lacy earned honorable mention.

 

Fey, a junior middle hitter, also earned first team honor last year. Lewis, a senior rightside hitter, was named AVCA honorable mention the previous two years and Lacy, a senior middle hitter had been first team all-region the previous two years.

 

Fey and Lewis will move on to the All-America ballot, each looking for their first such honor. Fey finished the year averaging 2.70 kills a set and hit .316 with 0.72 blocks a set. Lewis led Washburn with a .344 attack percentage and 3.11 kills a set. She was second in the league in attack and fifth in kills at the end of the regular season. Lacy ended the season hitting .341, fourth best in the MIAA.
