Students’ Form 1098-T tax information is now available online.  Paper copies will be mailed out as well, and should be received by the end of next week.

To access the online information, students should:

Log into MyWashburn

Select the “Financial Services” tab

Click on the “1098 T Tax Information” link in the “Student Account Information” box on the right side of the page

Enter “2011” in the “Enter a Tax Year:” box, then click the “Submit” button

The page displayed is not an official IRS tax information form; you will be receiving that in the mail shortly.  However, the page displays all the information contained on the paper 1098-T form, so you can begin workiing on your income tax return for 2011.

The page also shows some supplemental information that is not included with the paper form:

“Hard Copy Mailed:” – This is the date we transmitted the data file to a third party to print and mail the paper 1098-T forms.  The actual mailing date is one or two business days after the date displayed.

“Detail of Amounts Billed” – this shows the detail, by academic term, of the amount shown in Box 2 of the 1098-T form.

“Detail of Adjustments to Amounts Billed” – this shows the detail of the amount shown in Box 4, which are adjustments to amounts reported on a previous year’s Form 1098-T.

“Detail of Scholarships or Grants” – this shows the detail of the amount shown in Box 5.

“Detail of Adjustments to Scholarships” – this shows the detail of the amount shown in Box 6, which are adjustments to amounts reported on a previous year’s Form 1098-T.

In addition to calendar year 2011, 1098-T information is available online for calendar years 2004 through 2010.  You can access prior year information from your 2011 1098-T information page by:

Click on the “Select Another Tax Year” link at the bottom of the page.

Enter the desired year in the “Enter a Tax Year:” box and click the “Submit” button.

Click on the “Tax Notification — 1098T” link.
