I came across this article today about a copycat in Ohio who was planning on doing something similar to what happened in Aurora, Colo. during a 10 p.m. showing of “The Dark Knight Rises.”
This royally pisses me off. I just don’t understand how people can be so careless, I mean what the hell is your problem? Movies used to be a place where people could go to get away from their everyday life of stress and work and relax and be taken away into a different world from their own.
My heart breaks for the victims, the injured and the families in Aurora, Colo. and I am thankful that this man in Ohio was caught and nobody was injured or killed.
I work at a movie theater here in Topeka and I noticed that since the Colorado incident we have been a lot slower and I hate to see that. We shouldn’t have to fear going to see a movie. I love movies, and I want to be able to go and enjoy it and not have to worry if someone in the theater wants to murder me.
I don’t think we need metal detectors or anything like that because someone could simply sneak out the exit door and come back in just like in Colorado but I do believe that movie theaters need stronger security such as a police officer there every night.
I know that many of you “Right Wing Conservatives” think the answer is being able to conceal and carry into the movie theater, which I don’t agree with but this is coming from a guy who was never raised around guns.
I know people say that guns don’t kill, only people kill. Well guess what? Guns plus people kill. I mean, that is the whole reason guns were invented, right? Even if it is just for protecting yourself. I am totally for the right to bear arms but damn it, keep your arms at home when you go to see a movie.
