Jamaican poet Kwame Dawes shared selections from his numerous books and told the stories behind his poems in the Mabee Library on September 5.
Dawes is the award-winning author of sixteen books of poetry and books of fiction, non-fiction, criticism and dram. Also, Dawes is the Chancellor’s Professor of English at the University of Nebraska.
This was his first time Dawes at Washburn University
Dawes said that was a good experience sharing his works because he received good feedbacks fro m the audience. “One of the opportunities it gives me when I do a reading, is read works that I haven’t read a lot of, and I was available to read new works that haven’t yet published”
