HALO wants blood for good cause

Next week students, faculty and staff are invited to share their blood. The Hispanic American Latino Organization will be holding its Cesar Chavez Blood Drive in the Shawnee Room of the Memorial Union. They will be taking blood from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. and the event is open and free to all who are interested.

Donors are required to bring a photo ID, which could include a Washburn ID. HALO encourages people to eat and drink plenty of fluids before donating blood.

People interested in donating blood must weigh at least 110 lbs and they must be in good health. Some people can’t donate blood if they donated blood in the past 56 days, they are pregnant, if they have traveled to certain countries, their blood pressure is too high, they take certain medications and/or they have certain health problems.

For more information on donating blood to HALO, contact Jesus Barron-Garcia at 785.274.8524. There is a Facebook event that can be found at facebook.com/events/546185115404074/.
